Christmas 2011

Hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas...we sure did. Looks like we have finally slept and relaxed enough that we might be able to go back to work/school next week. We have certainly been blessed this year.

The girls Christmas morning...we love Santa!!!

Erin is looking forward to UIL competition in a month or so. She is busy right now getting down with Dance Revolution 2 with her sisters.
Emily is taking a much needed break from basketball for a couple of weeks. She is ready for track season so she can run the hurdles.
Elizabeth had a very busy 1st semester with school work. She was looking forward to this break more than anyone. She is feeling refreshed, so look out school work. She is getting ready for the Wildflower Belle ball in March.
Melinda enjoyed the time off and didn't obsess about having to get school work done for the first time all year. She is secretly looking forward to getting back to her kids at school.
Eric had some changes at work...new boss, new products, etc. With all change brings the opportunity to be challenged....Eric is looking forward to the challenge of another year with new products.

Back to School 2011

I can't believe it's really been this long since we updated the blog...where in the world does the time go?
Summer was great. Elizabeth took a 2-week Speech class to get it over with. Ended up being better than she thought it was gonna be...but still glad it's over. We hung out around the house, watched a lot of One Tree Hill, went to Six Flags - about dropped dead from the heat, did a little swimming, and had a lot of fun.
Erin turned 10. She had a sleepover with a few friends and had a blast. Elizabeth turned 16...believe it. She decided to go to the Main Event - family entertainment center with some friends. We played laser tag, pool, and shuffle board. Lines were too long for bowling...have to do it next time.
And now...school starts back up. Elizabeth has a challenging year ahead. She's taking Physics, AP English, Pre-Cal, Spanish 3, History, Early childhood development, a computer class, and an Ag class - design and fabrication. Turns out the Ag class is not what was thought...floral design, etc. It's actually a welding class...too funny thinking about E welding some metal. She wants to stay in the class. We'll let everyone know if the fire department gets any calls because of our girl.
Em is back in the swing of things already. She has some good classes and good teachers. She is cheering again this year and has had a couple of practices. She made All-American again this summer during cheer camp. She played summer volleyball to get ready for the school year. Looks like it paid off...she just made the A team in volleyball. Em's gonna be a busy girl again this year.
Erin is as excited as excited can be...she is now a middle-schooler. They have lockers in the hallway now. She had some issues getting used to opening the combination, but it seems to be all good now. So far, Erin's favorite class is gym. Go figure...just like her Dad. Although, Dad really liked lunch too. Erin is considering taking Tennis back up. Right now she wants to do Tennis and cheer. We'll see if that changes.
Melinda is finally out at Academy with the girls. It's always a challenge to adapt to a new environment, but Melinda is really liking it so far. She is stressing about having everything in place already, but that's Melinda. Erin is really happy...she had Melinda teaching her Math and Social Studies. Should be a great year!

the New Year...2011

Hope everyone had a safe and happy Christmas, as well as New year celebration. Christmas was great for the Chavez house. We got to stay in town and avoid all of the traffic on the freeway. We got to spend time with family and enjoy the holiday. We all managed to get a little sick, bronchitis & sinus infections, but it didn't take away from the enjoyment of the holiday. We spent a night in on New Year's Eve watching movies and the countdown. The Christmas break has been so much fun getting to spend time together, it's going to be hard to go back to work. Hope everyone has a blessed New Year. We're going to hold on tight and enjoy the ride...
